The evening of Monday 9th May saw our second AGM following another busy year implementing projects relating to our 5 year Business Plan.

Our Accounts are yet to be completed, however, we are happy to share with you the ‘unofficial’ figures that were presented at the meeting.

We are also pleased to give a summary of all the projects we have been working on over the last 12 months. These project all relate back to the Business Plan that the volunteer Board of Directors committed to back in 2014; Pride in Otley, Promotion of Otley and Professional Otley:

 

OTLEY BID – 2016 PROJECTS

In Partnership with the Chamber of Trade  

  1. Free membership of the Chamber for BID members
  2. Funded the first Otley Business marquee at the Otley Show
  3. Part funded the second Otley Business Awards
  4. Part funded the supply of Xmas trees/lights and brackets

In Partnership with Leeds City Council  

  1. Negotiated 10 new street bins of which LCC paid for 5. LCC paid for all the work needed to remove the old ones and set the new ones
  2. Negotiated a cost free deal to get our street furniture painted which was undertaken by the Community Payback Scheme
  3. Involved in the negotiations for new all day parking on Cattle Market Street for coaches
  4. Involved in the negotiations for removing the drop off for coaches outside Chevin Health
  5. Involved in the negotiations for changing the coach drop off outside Argos into a long term parking zone
  6. Instrumental in bringing together all departments within LCC to discuss Wharfemeadows Park. This led to the deal that is now in place for the Friends of Otley Lido Group
  7. Continue to discuss the café and toilet facilities in Wharfemeadows Park
  8. Ongoing discussions around parking facilities in the town

In Partnership with Otley Town Partnership  

  1. Part funded a Focus Group to look at customer experience when using www.visitotley.co.uk and suggest improvements
  2. Part funded the coach driver’s vouchers
  3. Funded the advert in the Coach Drivers bible
  4. Gave donations to the Food & Drink Festival
  5. Gave a donation the Street festival
  6. Gave a donation to the first BOOM Festival

In Partnership with Otley in Bloom    

  1. Funded further lamp post flower displays
  2. Agreed to fund new flower displays outside the Children’s Centre, Pool Road
  3. Funded someone to water all the extra flower displays
  4. Helped to negotiated new flower displays in the Bus Station

In Partnership with Otley Town Council    

  1. Part funded the entertainment at the Xmas lights switch on
  2. Ongoing work on promoting the town
  3. Bought 1500 metres of bunting for the Tour de Yorkshire

Other projects

  1. Set up the BID office/painted/carpeted/desk/chair/laptop/mobile phone/stationery
  2. Employed a part-time Manager
  3. Organised the planning application, architect and artist to create the wall art in the Bay Horse Courtyard entrance
  4. Worked with Prince Henry’s Grammar School to produce 50 flags to be used during the Tour de Yorkshire and other events
  5. Organised the artwork by Julia Odell, Shane Green and Leslie Child that was placed in the empty shop windows in time for the Tour de Yorkshire
  6. Negotiated with ATCM (Association of Town & City Management) to bring a group of Town Centre Managers/BID Managers and leading people in town management to the town – 27 people attended
  7. Organised footfall monitors for the town and manage reporting on a monthly basis
  8. Funded the BID Directory and a Focus Group to look at usability and recommend improvements
  9. Continue to work with Lili Waste and Excel Solutions to gain savings for our businesses. Excel have 40 new levy clients, Lili Waste have 25+
  10. Funded a local expert to keep our Facebook, Twitter and Website up to date
  11. Arranged for the BID to have a presence in the Otley Bulletin every month
  12. Part funded the first ever Poet Lauriat for Otley
