Dear Otley Business
As the UK begins to gradually open businesses during the Coronavirus pandemic, the Government have issued the following guidance on how to work safely.
As stated in these guidelines, many businesses operate more than one type of workplace, such as an office, factory and fleet of vehicles. You may need to use more than one of these guides as you think through what you need to do to keep your employees and customers safe.
Please see below links which can help you get your business ready for re-opening:
- Government’s Guidance to Working Safely During Coronavirus – general information across 8 different workplaces
- Guidance for Education & Childcare – phased opening of schools, colleges and nurseries
- Guidance for Safer Travelling – walking, cycling, and travelling in vehicles or on public transport
- Guidance on How to Carry out a COVID-19 Risk Assessment at Work
- Guidance on Cleaning Your Workplace Safely
We are committed to ensuring that you have all the information you need to help you to re-open in a way which will keep you, your staff and your customers safe.
If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our utmost to help.

There is nothing in regarding hairdressing and re opening hair salons.
Hi Luciano,
As far as we are aware the latest Government advice regarding the re-opening of hairdressers, the beauty industry and other similar businesses will be around 4th July providing there is not another peak in Coronavirus cases. We would expect there to be further clarification from the Government on safety procedures nearer that time. As soon as we are aware of this information we will update via email and on our website and social media platforms.
Can you please confirm which Otley business you are and your email address so that we can check you’re on our mailing list to receive regular updates via email?
Many thanks

Hi. I’m a self employed cleaner for private houses. I have just bought aprons gloves and face coverings. Should I go back to work. Many thanks Sue’s cleaning services
Hi Sue,
Unfortunately I cannot advise whether you should or shouldn’t go back to work, you need to make this decision yourself based on keeping you and your customers safe. I have found the below link to the Government’s website which I hope you will find useful https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/homes
Kind regards
